Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between mean, median and mode?

The mean is the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle value when sorted. The mode is the most frequent value. For skewed data the median is often a better "typical" number.

Do negative numbers work?

Yes. Negative values are treated like any other number in every statistic.

What if all numbers are the same?

The mean, median and mode all equal that number, and the range is 0.
