Can I enter mixed numbers like 1 1/2?
Enter them as improper fractions instead (1 1/2 becomes 3/2). The result can be displayed as a mixed number when it applies.
Why is my result simplified automatically?
Every result is divided by the greatest common divisor of the numerator and denominator, so 8/12 shows as 2/3. This matches how most math courses expect answers to be written.
What happens if I divide by a fraction with a zero numerator?
The tool shows an error instead of a result, because dividing by zero is undefined.
